The room
was as cold
as ice. She
held his hand
as she still
had a chance
to do so.
She smiled bitterly
while looking at
that unconscious face.
Then, she turned
and faced the
doctor. The doctor
nodded and tried
to understand her
situation.
After a
while, she went
away from him
and took her
place on another
bed. Her tears
shattered down her
gorgeous face. As
she laid down,
she closed her
eyes and hoped
for a miracle.
Slowly she whispered,
“I’m so sorry,
Adam. I don’t
have any choice
left. And, this is
the choice that
I would choose
for you.”

For her
first try, she
kind of over
cooked it. So? It burnt!
Then, there was
the second try,
she over flipped
it. ….???....and it
stuck at the
ceiling. She took
a tinge of
calmness with a
deep breath. The
third one,.. yeah!
She did it!
She managed to
make ‘a’ pancake.
Her eyes were
sparkled with happiness
and excitement. After
that, she prepared
the breakfast neatly
and put them
on a tray.
She brought it
to the room
and put the
tray beside. She
was determined to
do the surprise.
“Adam….wake up
sleepy head,” Alice woke Adam
up. As Adam
woke up with
a sleepy face,
“Taa daaa.. Surprise!”,
Alice made the

to smiled and
focus his vision
to the tray.
He was shocked
beyond believe. “Am I dreaming?”,
Adam asked Alice
with a confused
face, as he
saw pancakes with
butter and honey
on top.
Then, Alice also tried
to prepare lunch.
Adam was surprised.
“You don’t have
to cook for
lunch. Lets go
out site seeing.
Then, we could
eat outside.” Adam
smiled confidently. “Why
not? It’s okay..
I could prepare
“Asam Pedas” for
you.”, There was
a portrait of
determination upon Alice’s
face. Adam could
not bare looking
at that face
if he tried
to crush her
heart. “Okay.”, Adam
said it softly
like he was
half whispering. “I’ll
wait here, okay?”,
Adam then sat
on a chair
and looked at
hi wife whom
suddenly want to
try cook lunch.
For two years
they have been leaving
together, this was
the first time
his wife wanted
to cook for
him.
Out of
the blue, “Ouch!”,
Adam startled. “Alice , what is
it? What happened?”,
he was very
worried. Alice turned and
showed her forefinger
on the right
hand. It was
bleeding. “Oh dear..
Lets wash it
okay?”, Adam then
quickly put Alice’s
right hand towards
the flowing water
at the sink. Alice was silent
and followed Adam.
After that, Adam
put a bandage
and medicine around
Alice’s finger. “You
are so clumsy.
Did you know
that?”, Adam smiled.
Alice nodded slowly.
“Lets go out,
okay?”, Adam tried
to offer the
previous plan again.
His wife nodded
and smiled.
Before they
could go out,
Adam suffered from
a heart attack.
Alice was anxious
and heart skipped
a beat as
Adam fell down
onto the grown.
She hurriedly called
the emergency number.
There they were
preparing for a
surgery. Tit! Tit!
Tiiiittt!... The beeping
of the heart
sensors was ending.

He woke
up from his
sleep. “Where am
I?”, he asked
and looked around.
He felt hurt
on his chest.
He looked. There
were many stitches. There was
also a letter
on top of
him. He opened
and red it.
Some tears formed
in his eyes.
How his heart
ached. He was
crushed. He could
hardly breathe. His
lungs were in
flame, as he
tried to cry
and breathe normally.
“No! No. No…
This is just
a dream. It
couldn’t be true”,
his voice faded.
He tried to
hesitate it. The
doctor came in.
He quickly asked,
“Where’s my wife?
Doctor?”. The doctor
was speechless. Adam
sobbed.
Dear Adam,
I
wished I could
make you happy
once more, but
I guest those
were the last.
Thank you for
being there for
me, cured me
and took good
care of me.
I knew I
could be clumsy
sometimes, but my
clumsiness was just
for me to
get more attention
from you. I hoped that
you would be
happy and built
a new life
without me. This
was my decision,
my heart for
you. Please take
good care of
heart for me.
I knew you
would. Hug kisses.
Love,
The doctor
slowly approached Adam
and said every
cloud have a
silver lining. This
was her decision.

was final and
